Green Zone

Burke Services, Inc. constantly works with The Sustainability Institute of Charleston. We strive to learn more about how we can help create better and more energy efficient homes in the Charleston Area and even homes in the Charleston area that have historic value and cannot be updated like current homes. The heating and cooling equipment in the residence in Downtown Charleston, South Carolina is a Climate Master Geothermal 2 Stage Heat Pump. We work with the Sustainability Institute to look at duct design, equipment, changes to the building such as different types of insulation, windows, doors, etc and see how our load calculations change. Please stay tuned to the Green Zone Page on updates and pictures. The Sustainability Institute is currently working on some major changes which will produce a lot more information and results that you will love to see and compare. Thank you to everyone at the Sustainability Institute.
Burke Services, Inc. is donating our time, services, and materials to install a geothermal system and ductwork for the new Net Zero Energy habitat for humanity home in Mt Pleasant. The Net Zero Energy Home project will explore energy-efficient construction methods and net-zero energy strategies and tackle the challenge of Charleston's notoriously hot-humid climate. Utilizing strategies such as SIPS walls and roofs, air-tight construction, geothermal HVAC, energy recovery ventilation, and high performance windows, the house will serve as a new model of efficiency for future Habitat projects, and to the construction professionals and volunteers who will learn through hands-on engagement during its construction.
Burke Services, Inc. is now part of the Charleston Green Committee. This is another step in the right direction for Burke Services, Inc. and Charleston as a whole. The Charleston Green Committee is very concerned about issues involving our great city. We are proud to now be a part of this organization and donate our time to stay active in the community and help out where we can and are needed. Thank you to the Charleston Green Committee.
